In the years since the tragic Bali Bombing,
various parties have worked to acquire the Sari Club site
to create a peace park, with spaces for reflection and contemplation.
The project is now in the design stage.
Indonesian and Australian volunteers and designers
have been working together to create a garden space to honour
the lives lost, the survivors and the many people from all
walks of life who came together on that terrible night and
in the weeks and months after.

One of the many doctors who worked tirelessly to assist the injured was Dr. Fiona Wood, the head of Royal Perth Hospital burns unit. To honour her work for the Bali Bomb victims, Dr. Fiona Wood was made "Australian of the Year in 2005 " by the former Australian Prime Minister John Howard.

I Made Mangku Pastika former police chief of Bali was
awarded the prestigious award Bintang Bhayangkara Pratama
from former President of the Republic of Indonesia, Megawati
Sukarnoputri in 2003 for leading the successful investigation
that eventually brought the culprits to justice. |

Bali Peace Park's objective is to promote understanding,
tolerance and freedom across different cultures. Bali Peace
Park will provide a place for future generations to reflect
and to acknowledge the past and to build for a future without
fear.
Dr.Fiona Wood and General I Mangku Pastika are joint patrons
of the Bali Peace Park initiative.
